ANTIBIOTICS RESISTANCE AND PLASMID PROFILE OF BACTERIAL PATHOGENS ISOLATED FROM HAIR- DRESSING SALON EFFLUENTS IN BENIN CITY

Hairdressing and beauty salons are classified as personal services establishment such may pose potential health concerns to their clients including the risk of infection sometimes injury. The widespread occurrence drug resistant bacterial pathogens in hairdressing effluents has necessitated need for regular monitoring antibiotics susceptibility trends. This study examined pattern plasmid profile isolates from salon waste water three different locations (zones) Benin City. New zone effluent had highest heterotrophic count (6.4 x103 ± 0.4 cfu/ml). Major isolated include Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus sp. physico-chemical analyses showed mean pH be 6.3 0.47 which is slightly near neutrality COD 127.33 10.09. Result test done using Augumetin, Ofloxacin, Gentanycin, Nalidixic acid, Cotrimaxozole, Amoxycillin, Nitrofurantoin Tetracyclin that 100% resistance Augumentin, acid Cotrimaxozole. revealed absence giving hundred percent conviction gene these organisms possible located on chromosomal genome not oriented.
